NEAR AJAX, La. -- A second earthquake in less than a week has been reported in Northwest Louisiana.

The USGS recorded a 2.6 magnitude earthquake just before 11 a.m. south of the community of Ajax in north Natchitoches Parish.

The USGS puts the location almost 7 miles east northeast of Pleasant Hill, which is just across the parish line in Sabine Parish. It registered 4.5 miles deep.

On Friday, a 3.4 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Red River Parish, where clusters of tremors have been reported over the past year.

The strongest earthquake recorded on land in Louisiana happened in March when a 4.9 magnitude was reported in the same area.
