DOTD: Jimmie Davis Bridge addition to protect drivers
SHREVEPORT, La. -- State highway officials took to social media Friday to explain the purpose of an addition to the existing Jimmie Davis Bridge that seemed to puzzle drivers. DOTD said it's simply a containment system that's part of the ongoing project related to the new bridge's construction but also will help to eventually transform the two-lane bridge into a bicycle and pedestrian crossing.
"We’ve seen the puzzled posts wondering exactly what this strange platform is," the post states. "The containment system is in place for the sandblasting & painting process to protect you - the drivers."
The public can keep up with the Jimmie Davis Bridge replacement project on the JDB project webpage.
