DIXIE INN, La. — Village officials are considering a new plan to regulate alcohol sales that would require every server within the village limits to be registered with the local government.
The proposal, known as Ordinance 137, would establish a mandatory alcoholic beverage outlet program.
Under the measure, all alcohol handlers would be required to carry special permits, or cards, to ensure they are properly registered with the village.
The mayor presented the formal proposal during a regular board meeting on Tuesday.
If the measure is adopted, the registration requirement would impact every server working in the village.
