TEXARKANA, Texas - The Arkansas Children's Hospital kicked off its Walmart Neighborhood Market campaign at Texarkana Harley-Davidson on Saturday.
Hospital Development Officer Simone Singh said Arkansas Children's is the only children's hospital in the state and is part of the Children's Miracle Network, which helps to raise funds for 170 children's hospitals.
Harper Woodell and her mom, Heidi Smith, were chosen as Arkansas Children's ambassadors for the Southwest Arkansas and East Texas area.
Harper underwent open-heart surgery when she was four years old at the hospital in Little Rock.
"If you met Harper today, you would never know what she went through at four years old," said Smith. "You would never know the specialized care Arkansas Children's gave us; the family-centered approach, and family-centered healing was really what took our care to the next level and got her the amazing results that we wanted."
The campaign runs from June 8 through July 5.
