Maurice Devon Grant arrested

SHREVEPORT, La. -- A Caddo Parish Schools employee was arrested Friday for allegedly forcing a child to participate in a sex video.

Maurice Devon Grant, 30, of Haughton, was arrested on a charge of production of child sexual abuse materials.

Grant was arrested at a Caddo Parish high school, where he served as a paraprofessional, according to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations. 

He was identified as a suspect following a cyber tip from Snapchat. The tip was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The report said a user shared a video depicting the forced sexual abuse of a prepubescent boy, the LBI said in a news release.

Grant, who has been employed since 2021 and most recently worked at Captain Shreve, was placed on administrative leave. The district also has started the termination process.

"Caddo Schools is aware of the arrest of a district paraprofessional in connection with an ongoing law enforcement investigation. The employee was taken into custody without incident, and the district fully cooperated with law enforcement throughout the process. The conduct alleged is deeply disturbing, indefensible, and completely incompatible with the standards and values of Caddo Parish Public Schools. We condemn in the strongest possible terms any act involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child. Such behavior will never be tolerated, excused, or condoned by this district," Caddo Parish Schools said in a statement.

District officials did not have information indicating the alleged conduct happened during Grant's work with Caddo Schools.

"The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds," the district said. "Because this is an active criminal investigation, questions regarding the allegations, evidence, charges, or circumstances surrounding the arrest should be directed to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and the Shreveport Police Department."

Grant was booked in Shreveport and is being held on a $175,000 bond.

The Shreveport Police Department assisted the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
