SHREVEPORT, La. — The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is helping families prepare for the upcoming academic year with a free Back-to-School Safety Kick-Off & Health Fair.

The community event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at Sheriff's Safety Town.

Organizers designed the free gathering to help local students and parents get ready for a successful school year. Attendees can explore a variety of educational resources and ask questions about keeping children safe and healthy.

Topics covered during the fair will include:

  • General safety reminders

  • Health and wellness information

  • Car seat and seat belt safety

  • Emergency preparedness

  • School bus safety

The event is free and open to the public.
