ATT cell site in Claiborne Parish

State and local officials joint AT&T officials in cutting the ribbon for a new cell site in Claiborne Parish. 

SUMMERFIELD, La. -- AT&T has added a new cell site to expand 5G coverage and capacity in Summerfield and North Claiborne Parish, helping residents, businesses and public safety on FirstNet get more from their mobile devices, the company said Wednesday in a news release.

The new site in Summerfield boosts coverage along Hightower Road.

“Expanding reliable connectivity across Louisiana is essential to strengthening our communities and our economy,” said state Rep. Rashid Young. “Every new site like this one help ensure that families, businesses, and first responders have the tools they need to stay connected in today’s digital world.”

“I understand firsthand the critical role of expanded wireless networks in ensuring public safety,” said Claiborne Sheriff Sam Dowies. “These networks serve as a lifeline for our first responders, enabling seamless communication and swift response times. The expansion of wireless connectivity is not just about technology; it's a commitment to the safety and well-being of our communities, allowing us to protect and serve with the efficiency and effectiveness that our residents deserve."

“The expanded wireless network in Summerfield is a crucial step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring seamless connectivity for our community,” said Claiborne Parish Superintendent Chris Brooks. “This new tower will not only enhance communications but also empower our students with reliable, high-speed network coverage.”

AT&T 5G provides secure connectivity to more than 315 million people in over 26,900 cities and towns nationwide, including Summerfield. 

These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is high-quality spectrum dedicated to FirstNet —the only nationwide communications network built with and for public safety. In emergencies, this band – or lane - can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity, the company said in a news release.
