Airline High School earns second Friday Night 5G Lights grant

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Airline High School has been selected as a $5,000 winner through T-Mobile's Friday Night 5G Lights program for the second time, having also earned a $5,000 prize during the program's inaugural season in 2024.

Airline High School officials say community support has never been stronger. In the school's Friday Night 5G Lights application, leaders described Friday nights as a showcase for a fan base that "supports us unconditionally."

While the school is proud of its football tradition, coaches say facility upgrades are needed to better serve student-athletes.

"This money would completely change the game for Airline High School and our football program," school leaders wrote in their application. "We would love the opportunity to continue to build on our successes and make this the best facility in the state of Louisiana."

Airline High School is one of 13 Louisiana schools that have each earned a $5,000 Friday Night 5G Lights grant during the 2026 season.

Now in its third season, Friday Night 5G Lights gives eligible high schools in communities with populations of 150,000 or fewer the opportunity to compete for more than $8.4 million in total prizes, including weekly $5,000 Friday grants, regional finalist awards and a $1 million football field upgrade.
