3 train cars derail in Oil City; Main Street crossing reopened

OIL CITY, La. -- The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office said both crossings reopened after 6:30 p.m. and the track has been repaired.

OIL CITY, La. — A Caddo Parish patrol deputy discovered three derailed train cars early Monday morning near the 13700 block of Highway 1, authorities said.
Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. said in a news release that the deputy noticed the possible derailment at approximately 6:12 a.m. Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad representatives responded to the scene and confirmed the incident.
No hazardous materials were involved, and no injuries have been reported, according to officials.
The derailment has caused a train to block the Main Street crossing in Oil City. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes, as officials do not know how long the intersection will be closed.
CPKC Railroad officials are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
