2 SPD lieutenants on administrative leave
SHREVEPORT, La. – Two Shreveport police lieutenants are on administrative leave while the department investigates whether they violated department policies through their off-duty private security business.
SHREVEPORT, La. – Two Shreveport police lieutenants are on administrative leave while the department investigates whether they violated department policies through their off-duty private security business.
Lt. Mike Jones and Lt. Allison Azlin were placed on paid leave Friday, said Cpl. Chris Bordelon.
The internal investigation will focus on whether their private business poses a conflict of interest with their paid employment as police officers, Bordelon said.
There is no indication the two used city resources for their private security work, Bordelon said.
Jones and Azlin are listed as managers of Tactical Personal Security Solutions LLC. The company was registered with the state in November.
SPD has policies governing outside employment because an officer's secondary job can affect his or her duties as a police officer, Bordelon said.
“We have to disclose anything like that,” he said. “We want to make sure there’s nothing unethical about it since it’s in close proximity to what we do.”
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed it's not involved in the investigation.
