2 shot at Peach Street apartment complex; 3 suspects in custody

SHREVEPORT, La. -- More than 20 Shreveport police and Caddo Parish sheriff's were spread between two scenes early Monday afternoon following a shooting where several people were injured by gunfire. 

Shots were fired just after 1 p.m. at the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments on Peach Street. 

Shreveport police Cpl. Chris Bordelon said two people were hit by gunfire. One showed up at the hospital and the other went to Fire Station No. 6 for help then taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. One has injuries described as life-threatening.

Four suspects in the shooting left the scene in a black Mercedes. SPD officers located the car while en route to the shooting. 

Deputies responded to assist in a chase of the vehicle that ended at Abbey and Elder streets, where three were taken into custody. 

The fourth person -- described as a Black male with dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing -- is still at-large. A search was underway at David Raines Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Officers did not exchange gunfire with the suspects. But one of the patrol units has some minor damage from the chase, Bordelon said. 

At one point, SPD had 20 units and CPSO had 13 units involved in the investigation. Another half-dozen medical units also responded. 

Multiple firearms have been recovered. The camera system at the apartment complex is tied into the Real Time Crime Center. Officers are working to secure that footage to assist in the investigation.
