Minden City Council adopts new fee schedule for recreation complex

MINDEN, La. - The Minden City Council earlier this week adopted a new fee schedule for the Minden Recreation Complex as part of a major effort to attract more events to the region.

The city is partnering with Airstream Ventures, a Florida-based firm, to lead the charge in bringing new activities to the area. Mayor Nick Cox met with the company to develop the pricing plan to ensure the city is prepared for upcoming negotiations with event organizers.

"The one thing they do not have from this council at the moment is a fee structure," Cox said. "And so in order to make a deal, you have to know how much the deal is going to cost. So at this time, we're presenting to the council... seeking possible approval of that fee schedule."

Officials noted that baseball and softball tournaments are already heavily lined up for the complex. The city’s broader strategy for regional tourism also includes plans to utilize the airport for motorsports and Caddo Lake for marathons.
