Inmate gets 5 years for U.S. Supreme Court fentanyl hoax

Alvieyle Moore, 40, received the maximum sentence after pleading guilty to the chemical weapons hoax. He must also serve three years of supervised release.
Court documents show Moore mailed a letter to the high court containing a tablespoon of white powder and a note stating the reader would die because the paper was laced with fentanyl. The threat triggered a hazardous materials response and forced the evacuation of the Supreme Court warehouse facility.
The sentencing came from the Western District of Louisiana following investigations by the Supreme Court Police, Secret Service, and the FBI.
