The Monroe County Board of Supervisors held a short meeting on May 12.

The board voted to approve the financial terms related to the Secondary Roads Union employees contained in the County’s contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 1396, excluding Appendix A’s Wage Schedule. This will extend the terms of the contract through Aug. 15, 2026

The board also heard from Monroe County Attorney Laura Davis that she had not received a decision from township officials on the Delaney fencing matter filing. Monroe County Auditor Amanda Harlan said that she would reach out to request a new copy of the documents to facilitate the recording process. No action was taken by the board.

The board then approved claims before adjourning.

May 19 meeting

The Monroe County Board of Supervisors held a regular meeting on May 19.

The board approved a request from Monroe County Conservation Director Jessie Kelly to open a bank account for direct deposits of rental income received through MyCountyParks.com. Kelly will deposit any funds collected each month with the Monroe County Treasurer Faith Powless, who will also be named on the account. The account will be reconciled monthly.

The board also approved a contract with Cost Advisory Services from 2026-2028 to provide consulting services.

The board also once again discussed the possible transfer of the Monroe County Sports Complex with county attorney Davis. Davis said she would review the proposed agreement that had been prepared by Ahlers & Cooney and report back to the board. No action was taken.

The board approved a utility permit for Donnie McGee in Troy Township.

The board approved a resolution in support of a Joint RCE Grant and/or CRISI Grant application. RCE is the Railroad Crossing Elimination Planning Grant Project while CRISI is the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement Grant Project.

The resolution states that the Iowa DOT is the lead applicant for the grant and Monroe County would be one sub-recipient of grant money if received. The Iowa DOT would provide all matching funds associated with the grant if it is received as well.

The board approved Board Chair Sonny Schroeder signing the NINJIO Security Awareness Training agreement with Iowa Counties Technology Services. The cost will be $2,002.50 for one year.

The board then adjourned the meeting.
