Harvest Regional Food Bank needs volunteers for corn harvest

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Harvest Regional Food Bank in Texarkana is seeking volunteers to help harvest two acres of donated fresh corn from a generous farmer in Little River County.

Volunteers are needed on Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until noon.

Executive Director Camille Wrinkle says they typically gather about 40,000 pounds of corn, which is an entire 18-wheeler truck load. The corn will be distributed to over 90 pantries across a 10-county region.

“It's really a great gift for us to be able to receive and then provide that to families who may not otherwise have access to fresh produce, nutritious food. So, this is really a treat for a lot of families that we serve,” said Wrinkle.

Before heading out the corn field, volunteers will meet at the Highway 41 rest stop in Foreman.
