Mizzou soccer hit the road to open its 2026 campaign against Western Kentucky on Thursday in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

It not only marked the beginning of the soccer season but also the first Mizzou game of the calendar year. The match ended in a 0-0 draw despite both teams getting numerous shots off.

The Tigers had six shots on goal, including two from freshman Rylie Morse, to the Hilltoppers’ three.

Four other Tigers recorded a shot on target — senior Brianna Buels, freshman Audrey Gilbert, junior Emily Derucki and junior McKenna Moran. Additionally, four players came off the bench, including redshirt junior Monica Brauner, who logged one shot in the 43rd minute.

Seven of Mizzou’s 11 shots came in the first half, while Western Kentucky applied the pressure in the second with six of its eight shots.

Mizzou goalkeeper Kate Phillips finished the night with three saves, but opposing goalkeeper Mia Riddick was equally flawless with six.

Now with a record of 0-0-1, the Tigers look to earn their first win of the season against Murray State at 1 p.m. Sunday in Murray, Kentucky.

The Racers have played three games so far, holding a 1-2 record. They are coming off a 1-0 loss to the SEC’s Ole Miss on Wednesday. Murray State’s other loss came to Western Kentucky, and its win was over Bellarmine.

Missouri finished the 2025 campaign with a 4-10-3 record (1-7-2 SEC), marking the Tigers’ worst mark in program history.
