Landon Brewer was selected in the 15th round of the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers, becoming the first Crimson Tide player drafted out of high school since 2004.
The right-handed pitcher, who also contributed at the plate, is signed with Louisiana Tech and was rated a top-10 prospect in Louisiana by Baseball America. Brewer earned 4A All-State first-team honors this past season.
Local talent filled other spots on draft boards. North DeSoto pitcher Dalton Hall was taken in the 13th round by the Kansas City Royals after being selected out of Nicholls.
