Keegan O’Toole retires from competition, remains on staff with Mizzou wrestling
O’Toole was a two-time national champion and five time All-American with the Tigers.

Former Mizzou wrestler Keegan O’Toole announced his official retirement from competition Monday in a statement released on the Mizzou wrestling X account. O’Toole will remain a coach on Brian Smith’s staff in the winter.
“Mizzou gave me a home for a piece of that journey, and competing in the black and gold is something I’ll carry for the rest of my life,” O’Toole said in the statement.
O’Toole was a member of the Tigers’ roster from 2020-24. He was named an All-American in each of his five seasons, winning the national championship in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023 in the 165-pound weight class.
He closed out his Mizzou career with a second-place finish in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
O’Toole finished his career with an overall record of 108-5.
Outside of his collegiate career, he won the 2021 Junior World Championship and 2023 U23 World Champion at 74 kilograms.
Following his time in Columbia, O’Toole competed in a trio of events for Real American Freestyle. His final recorded competition was a 14-9 victory over Christopher Minto at RAF 11 on July 18.
He was born in Hartland, Wisconsin, and wrestled for Arrowhead High School. O’Toole finished his prep career with a 110-5 record and four consecutive state championships.
O’Toole joined Mizzou’s coaching staff as an assistant in 2025 and will continue his role moving forward.
“To the fans who filled the Hearnes Center and made noise for guys like me — thank you,” O’Toole said. “I’m not going far. I’ll be right there in the room, coaching the next class of Tigers chasing it for themselves.”
