Gibbens, Ciccolini, Reed earn top-five finishes at USATF Outdoor Championships
Mizzou track and field was represented by three athletes at the USATF Outdoor Championships, while Chandler Gibbens, a graduate of Hickman High School, also competed.

Mizzou track and field was represented by three former athletes at the USATF Outdoor Championships on Thursday in New York, while Chandler Gibbens, a graduate of Hickman High School, also competed.
Gibbens ran at Kansas before signing a pro contract with Saucony. He won the 10,000-meter run at the Portland Track Festival in June. At the USATF Outdoor Championships on Thursday, he placed fourth in the men’s 10,000 with a time of 30 minutes, 25.37 seconds.
Gibbens trailed only now-three-time U.S. 10K champ Woody Kincaid, one-time U.S. 10K champ and 2024 10K Olympic bronze medalist Grant Fisher and three-time NCAA cross country champ Drew Bosley, an elite crop of athletes.
Skylar Ciccolini, Mikayla Reed and Sam Innes, who competed for the Tigers, took part in the women’s javelin, women's 10,000 and men’s hammer, respectively.
Ciccolini placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 177 feet, 8 inches. In the 10K, Reed also finished fifth in 33:49.23. And Innes, also a Battle High School grad, was 12th in the hammer with a distance of 219-8.
The event will continue through the weekend. Former Tigers Euphenie Andre competes in the triple jump at 5:05 p.m. Friday and Mitch Weber in the men’s discus at 2:40 p.m. Saturday. Gabi Jacobs will throw in the women’s discus at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, while Gibbens will run in the men’s 5,000 at 4:18 p.m.
