Former MU baseball coach Jamieson wins Kiwanis Club of Columbia Don Faurot Sportsperson of the Year

Tim Jamieson, a former Mizzou baseball coach, was named 2026 Kiwanis Club of Columbia Don Faurot Sportsperson of the Year. The news was announced by the club Tuesday.

“I am honored and appreciate being recognized by the Kiwanis Club, especially being included with the list of highly successful people who have received this award before me,” Jamieson said in an MU Athletics news release.

Jamieson began as Missouri’s head coach in 1995 and coached for 22 seasons. His teams topped the 30-win mark on 15 different occasions. The coach secured nine NCAA regional appearances, including seven straight from 2003-09. He was also a two-time conference coach of the year, in 1996 and 2012 in the Big Eight and Big 12, respectively.

Jamieson has helped mentor plenty of top talents that made it to the MLB, with the most notable prospect being former Tiger Max Scherzer. He also coached a pair of MLB managers in Jayce Tingler and Tony Vitello.

“I have been blessed with great athletic and human experiences during my career and have had the good fortune to be able to share those experiences with a host of very talented people,” Jamieson said.

The former MU baseball coach becomes the 15th Mizzou honoree to receive the award, joining notable names such as Norm Stewart and Karissa Schweizer.

Following his time as Southern Illinois’ pitching coach from 2020-22 and a one-year stint in Memphis in 2023, Jamieson returned to Columbia as Kerrick Jackson’s pitching coach.

Since then, he has switched into the role of director of program development.
