MEMPHIS, Tenn. and AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Tower Garden, a leader in aeroponic gardening and Whole Foods Market Foundation have partnered to support schools throughout the United States that are committed to sparking kids' curiosity about where their food comes from.
The Whole Foods Market Foundation announced earlier this month that 750 garden grants will be awarded to schools to start or expand edible learning spaces. This year, grantees also have an opportunity to receive a Tower Garden unit with 200 being donated.
Tower Garden believes in making gardening accessible to everyone no matter your geographic location while also using more sustainable resources from space to water. These donated Tower Garden units will be used to further education and experience in growing fresh produce in communities and schools and expected to reach students across the country.
Research from the University of Texas at Austin shows that students who participate in gardening, nutrition, and cooking classes eat more vegetables per day than they did before the programs. Plus, edible gardens support a wide range of classroom curriculums including science, nutrition, math, and art.
"When students grow their own food, something shifts—they become more curious, more engaged, and more connected to their health. By partnering with Tower Garden, we're expanding what's possible for educators who are already doing incredible work in their school communities. These aeroponic systems meet them with a resource that's accessible, sustainable, and genuinely exciting for kids," said Sandy Mariscal, Whole Foods Market Foundation's Director of Philanthropy.
"We have long admired the work done by the Whole Foods Market Foundation and the community they have created with their Garden Grant Program. This is an exciting moment for Tower Garden, and we hope to unlock a love of gardening and inspire children by providing these opportunities," said James Coffman, Vice President, Global Tower Garden. "We are proud to partner with Whole Foods Market Foundation and work with them on our shared mission for a healthier, more sustainable future for all."
Tower Garden looks forward to continued opportunities to reach and support organizations on their gardening adventures and encourages everyone to share their experience and tag @TowerGarden on Instagram as part of their journey.
