The Hallak story began in 1955, when Joseph Hallak Sr. opened Eiffel Cleaners in East Orange, New Jersey.

In 1966, he opened Hallak Cleaners on Second Avenue in Manhattan, establishing the business that would become the foundation of the Hallak family legacy.

The company's history includes decades of innovation and recognition within the professional garment-care industry. In 1972, Joseph Hallak Sr. was featured as a spokesperson in a full-page New York Times advertisement for Barneys, while Hallak was also featured on the cover of American Dry Cleaner magazine.

Hallak continued to expand its expertise and capabilities throughout the following decades, including the establishment of a 5,000-square-foot production plant in Bergen County in 1983, the introduction of pickup and delivery service, and the opening of a new 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in 1994 dedicated to Joseph Hallak Sr.

The company has continued to invest in technology, education and environmental practices, including becoming New York City's first GreenEarth licensed dry cleaner in 2009.

Today, Hallak serves clients throughout Manhattan, Bergen County, Westchester, Greenwich, Short Hills and the Hamptons (summertime), while continuing to operate with the personal approach of a family business.

To mark its 60th anniversary, Hallak Cleaners will host open house celebrations at both of its retail locations.
