Quebec provincial police say six vehicles have been seized in Dorval as part of an ongoing investigation into a structured vehicle-theft network allegedly sending stolen cars overseas.
The Sûreté du Québec said Friday that its Integrated Stolen Vehicle Export Investigation Team searched a commercial space and a shipping container on Lépine Avenue in Dorval on Thursday.
Police seized six vehicles from Quebec and Ontario that they identified as proceeds of crime, along with a forklift, licence plates, and documents.
According to police, the investigation centres on a network involved in stealing vehicles and preparing them for export through exporters in the Greater Montreal area.
No arrests have been announced, but the SQ says arrests could follow as the investigation continues.
The operation was conducted by the Integrated Stolen Vehicle Export Investigation Team, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and police services in Châteauguay, Thérèse-De Blainville, L'Assomption-Saint-Sulpice, Laval, Gatineau, and Trois-Rivières. The SQ also said it works closely with the Canada Border Services Agency and Equity Association.
The investigation forms part of broader efforts under the National Action Plan to Combat Vehicle Theft.
